One day Brian Fox and Chip Jones were chatting about band names. Brian said he thought Fox Force Five would be a great name for a band (It's the name of a fictional team of crime solving women in Pulp Fiction). He did not like Chip's front runner at the time, The Centers of the Universe.

Some time later, Chip was telling Brian he might write more songs if he had more lyric ideas. Well, it turned out that Brian had a treasure trove of lyrics, but no way to turn them into fully realized songs. So in late summer, 1994, Brian mailed Chip a fat envelope of lyric sheets, which Chip started writing and recording songs around. A mere 7 years later, Brian received an unexpected package during a time in America when receiving an unexpected package was a little scary. Fortunately, all that came out of that box was a disc with these 4 finished songs, complete with cover art brandishing the name FOX FORCE 5IVE.
